An association that recovers and selects second-hand and antique books, organising events and literary presentations, asked us to design their visual identity and come up with a name to represent them. The founders have a real mobile cart, ‘Silvano’, from which they sell books, like the Parisian Bouquinistes, a reference given to us by the client. The Bouquinistes are second-hand book dealers and antiquarians on the banks of the Seine in Paris. Hence the name Le Sponde. Spónda s. f. [lat. spŏnda ‘edge, margin, extreme limit’]. Place of meeting and communication between peoples. The pattern, the graphic design stylises pebbles in a raging river, which become almost primitive, rupestrian signs. The colours recall the tones of the wildest nature.
